Last year, Derry Hill Primary School approached Calne Lions for help to further develop their Wildlings project. This sought to improve the outdoor provision for their children.
We awarded the school a grant for £430 which has enabled them to purchase a slack line to be tied between 2 trees, which will help with balance and strength. A couple of hammocks were bought, to be erected in an area to promote rest and calmness whilst outside and provide somewhere to practice nature bathing! Finally a knot tying kit was purchased to help students to perfect their knot tying skills, which will prove essential when they make dens and shelters.
Calne Lions were very happy to help Derry Hill School create a wonderful outdoor area where their students can have fun engaging with nature and developing new skills, in the fresh air.
Mrs Hand from the school, who has spearheaded this project, said “Our huge thanks and gratitude go to Calne Lions for kindly gifting this grant to us, it has enabled us to buy more resources that will benefit and enhance our area for all the children.”
