“Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) is the official charitable organisation of Lions Clubs International. It is funded by 1.4+million Lions from over 200 countries, with donations coming from both individuals and clubs. The money raised is used to support our mission of serving communities and meeting humanitarian needs. LCIF provides grants in these focus areas:
- Saving Sight
- Serving Youth
- Providing Disaster Relief
- Meeting Humanitarian Needs
When disasters around the world happen, LCIF is able to step in quickly to send much needed donations to local Lions Clubs who can affect essential help, on the ground, wherever it is most needed.
When Jamaica was hit by, the category 5, Hurricane Melissa at the end of October, the area was devastated by catastrophic flooding and the high winds. LCIF mobilised $100,000 in the days that followed to empower Lions in the impacted areas and help their communities recover and rebuild.
Calne Lions were touched by the scenes unfolding on the news, especially as some members had only recently visited the island. We were pleased to send a donation for £1000 to LCIF to help their work, supporting Jamaica.
