In 2021, Men Walking and Talking was born in Telford; organising mental health walks, with the aim of bringing men together in a safe space to end the stigma around men’s mental health by supporting each other. Since then, the organisation has spread around the country and earlier this year Calne was added to the walking network.
Calne’s Men Walking and Talking group meet at 7:30pm on Wednesday nights in the big Tesco carpark. They bring together men from different backgrounds and offer a safe non-judgemental, supportive environment. A tag line for the group is “we are much more than a support group, we are family”.
Calne Lions appreciate the importance of supporting these types of community groups and in September 2025 awarded them a grant of £500 to help with training and promotion.
Co-founder, Leigh said “Without grants from people like yourselves, Men Walking and Talking would not be able to exist and benefit men with mental health illnesses across the country. Without the grants and fundraising, we just would not be able to continue.”
Calne Lion are pleased to support Men Walking and Talking and hope to be able to work with them in the future.
